At Northwood we are also Accepted Inspectors to the Roofing Contractors Association of BC. We specialize in roofing inspections. This inspection and consulting work follows RCABC standards and the RCABC Roofing Practices Manual.
Warranty Inspections
Home builders in BC are required to provide a third party 2 / 5 / 10 year warranty which covers the mechanical systems (electrical plumbing and HVAC systems), the building envelope (roofing, siding and all exteriors) for leaks and deficiencies, and the structural components respectively. Additionally, builders are also required to provide a one year warranty on their own work in constructing the home. A warranty inspection helps in identifying, confirming and reporting on defects prior to the end respective warranty term.

Mould sampling
Finding mould in a building is an indication of a water problem. That water problem may be apparent on its own but if it’s not the only way to find it is sampling. Sampling can help identify a problem and make sure the problem is also sufficiently cleaned up.

Water Quality Sampling
Water quality can vary greatly including containing contaminants such as arsenic, cryptosporidium, metals and nitrates. And this is just a small list. Testing is the only way to know what you have.
Asbestos Sampling
Experience helps us know what materials may contain asbestos. This could be any home built before 1990. Sampling is the only way to positively identify contaminated materials and remediation and clean up.
Lead Paint Sampling
Surprisingly, in Canada, a house as young as 1990 could have lead paint on it. If your home is pre-1972 its almost a given. Sampling is the only way to know.
