Home Cleaning Tips for Fall

With autumn here and winter just around the corner, it is a good idea to get your home ready before it gets too cold outside. Check out our home cleaning tips for fall:

Vacuum upholstered furniture, or have professionally cleaned if needed. Vacuum with an upholstery attachment to keep it looking it’s best. Use a screen to vacuum delicate upholstery.

Move furniture and vacuum beneath and behind it.

Clean window coverings to remove all the dust buildup on the blinds and curtains from having the windows open during the warm months.

Bring winter linens out of storage and clean.

Clean out closets to make room for your winter clothes. Pack up summer clothes and linens and replace them with fall/winter items.

Turn mattresses front-to-back and end-to-end to equalize wear.

Clean your carpets before it’s too cold for them to dry.

Inspect washer hoses for bulges, cracks or splits. Replace them if needed.

Check dryer exhaust tube and vent for built-up lent, debris or birds’ nests. Make sure the exterior vent door closes tightly when not in use.

Clean out closets. Cooler weather means more clothing. It’s time to clean out and make room for coats, boots, gloves and scarves. Pack up summer clothes and linens and replace them with cool-season items.
